How to implement XML?

Hi to all
I was wondering what was all about xml and doing some researching i found that it is used to handle data between applications. But know that i know that how could i implement that to get some practice using php.
I mean, what or how could i start using it???

I still don't know how to implement this technology.Could someone give me an advice or an idea,white paper o something to get an idea?
