    Why multiple namespaces?

    Hello;

    Why does this xml have multiple namespaces?
    Code:
    <name xmlns = "http://www.somethjing.com/name"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/MXLSchema-instance"
    xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.example.com/name name5.xsd"
    title = "Mr.">

    It has two: the default for the document and one for XMLSchema-instance (xsi). Probably the only point of the latter is so that there's a reference to the name5.xsd, in case a reader wanted to validate the XML.
