    Newbie/non-developer question

    Hello.

    I'm not a developer, but I'm trying to write a search accelerator for IE. It's working well, but I'd like to enhance it.

    Sample XML code:from here

    Code:
    <os:activity category="Search">
            <os:activityAction context="selection">
    	    <os:execute action="http://www.codeguru.com/forum/search.php" method="get">
    		<os:parameter name="query" value="{selection}" />
    	    </os:execute>
            </os:activityAction>
    </os:activity>
    So, currently "selection" is appended to the url, and everything works.

    What I'd like to do it have "selection" parsed before it is appended to the url.

    Sample "selection" data:

    Code:
    A1 : A2 : A3 : A4 : A5 : A6 : A7 : A8 : A9 : A10 : A11
    B1 : B2 : B3 : B4 : B5 : B6 : B7 : B8 : B9 : B10 : B11
    C1 : C2 : C3 : C4 : C5 : C6 : C7 : C8 : C9 : C10 : C11
    etc...
    This text table can be any length (up to ~30 lines).

    I need this selection data to be parsed into:

    A5,B5,C5 etc...

    Everything else can be ignored.

    To complicate this further, I only need the parsing done if "selection" is more than 10 characters long .

    So, something like:

    Code:
    if len (selection)<10
      don't parse

     else

      for each line in selection

       concatenate the item between the 4th & 5th colons to _temp
       concatenate a comma to _temp

       end for

     end else

    selection == _temp
    Is this possible?

    Thanks muchly...

    It is not possible. The search accelerator stuff is not designed to execute any kind of code.

    That's annoying.

    Many thanks for your quick response.

    Actually - now that I think about it, I only need a REPLACE or TRANSLATE function to replace every colon with a comma in "selection".

    something like

    replace (selection, ":", ",")

    Is this possible?

    Thanks ...
