Please help - Xerces error

I've been using Macromedia apps (DreamweaverMX, etc.) for some time with no problem. All of a sudden while loading the program, I get this error:

I reloaded Macromedia Contribute and got the same error. Is there any way to fix this? The Xerces dll is apparently some kind of XML parser. That's about as much as I could find out about it. I'd be most grateful. Thanks much and have a great holiday.

I have no idea if this is the problem, but I had a java application server that was having problems because it had two xerces.jar files in the classpath. Maybe you could check to see if there are too many Xerces.dll files?

No. I just installed Macromedia Contribute about an hour ago and before that, there wasn't any xerces-c_1_6.dll file on the computer. But before I installed that, I had reinstalled DreamweaverMX and, at that time, the only copy of xerces-c_1_6.dll was in the MX folder so there weren't conflicting versions of it.

Problem solved. I've had this machine (with win98se) for three years and NEVER run windows update. Also I've been using all the MX apps for nearly a year now (Flash, Fireworks, UltraDev, all of them) for a long time too and NEVER had that Xerces error. That's why I couldn't imagine windows update fixing it but it sure did. I can't believe how relieved I am. It get's me nuts when I can't fix something. When I went to the update page I saw nothing but security fixes, languarge modules and updates to MSIE and could see no relationship to those and the problem I was having but I tried everything else including reinstalling the OS and was getting desparate so I gave it a shot and sure enough. That did the trick. Once more I am a happy camper. So if anyone else has that problem, now we know

Thumbs up

You can Get for free this file: xerces-c_1_6.dll in URL
Unzip the file: xerces-c1_6_0 in C:\Programs Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX, and rename xerces-c1_6_0 for xerces-c_1_6.dll e divirta-se.
Download xerces-c_1_6.dll in URL

Xerces error despite windows update

I still get that xerces error; I have tried all suggestions in this thread including windows update. Is there another solution for that problem?

Nothing else

I hadn't found any other fixes out there for the problem except for the one that worked for me.
