Server not recognising .rdf file

I am trying to create an RSS feed.
I have created an rdf file, but it doesn't work.

If I view the file properties for my file, it has:

File Type: XML document text

Every other type of .rdf file has:

File Type: ISO-8859 text, with CRLF line terminators

How do I get the server to recognise my .rdf file as the latter?
