web crawlers / search engines with XML
Now that the contents of my pages are in an XML document, will web-based search engines be able to "see" what my site has so people can get search results for it?
Also, if somebody could explain searches of regular HTML docs too that would be good -- like do they search all your text, or just stuff like the meta tags and ALT image tags, etc? Thanks, Latrosicarius. |

Don't think so ... have you ever seen an XML document in your results on Google? On any search engine? I wonder if they are going to tackle this in the near future. This seems like a good place to read up on seach engines: http://searchenginewatch.com/resources/index.php |

How to ..
If search engine don't crawl xml.. why should we use it. I'm displaying a product/description table with xml and an asp parser. If search engine cannot find my products this is no use at all. What about a db.. for sure search engine don't crawl in my db, but their must be a way tho tell them the db content as major ecommerce site uses db. Is the same possible with XML ?
I have no answer, but I whan to find it out. Gotcher |
